Ensono and Amido – Frequently Asked Questions
On April 6, Ensono acquired Amido, a cloud native digital transformation consultancy based in the UK. This is the fourth strategic acquisition for Ensono since our brand launch in January 2016.
Q: Who is Amido?
A: Amido, founded in 2010, provides consultancy and software engineering services and specializes in using cloud native technologies to meet the diverse business needs of its enterprise clients. Amido employs over 130 people and has a wide service offering that supports the design, delivery and deployment of applications for digital transformation. Amido’s clients span multiple industries, including retail, public sector, healthcare and beyond.
In addition to Identity and Access Management, another of Amido’s differentiating factor is its intelligent technology capabilities. The company’s intelligent services give clients the ability to gain meaningful insights from unstructured data using automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics.
Q: Why did Ensono acquire Amido?
A: Amido complements Ensono’s technical solution offerings by bringing cloud native capabilities to Ensono. This will allow Ensono to tailor its technical solutions to the complex requirements of each client, with the ability to design, build and manage business applications.
This is not the first time the two will join forces. Ensono and Amido have previously partnered on digital transformation projects.
Q: How will the acquisition of Amido change Ensono’s service offering?
A: Amido’s cloud native capabilities allow Ensono to expand our service offerings to support our clients’ digital transformations from the application layer to mainframe modernization – with trusted advisors that can now consult, design, deliver and manage applications, data and infrastructure at a global scale.
With the addition of Amido, Ensono becomes one of the few companies capable of advising, transforming, and operating an enterprise’s entire IT estate ranging across the stack from mainframe to IaaS and up to custom, cloud native applications. Ensono has grown significantly over the years, but our strategy remains the same: to enable our clients’ business transformations and position them stronger for the future.
Q: Will both companies be integrated?
A: Initially, Amido will operate as “Amido, an Ensono company” and be integrated over time.
Q: What are the plans for existing Amido team members?
A: The Ensono organizational structure and leadership team will remain in place. Alan Walsh, CEO of Amido, will continue to run the Amido business and report to Larry Goldberg, Senior Vice President, Global Advisory and Consulting Services at Ensono.
Q: How will this acquisition benefit Ensono clients?
A: This supplements our migration and replatforming capabilities with Amido’s refactoring and greenfield application development. Amido’s cloud native capabilities enable us to create even more cutting-edge, tailored technical solutions for our clients through our new ability to design, build and manage business applications. As our clients gather more data It addresses the growing needs of our clients in the market and positions us as a service provider who can deliver the best transformative solutions for our clients.
Q: How will this acquisition benefit Amido clients?
A: Ensono’s managed services capabilities will accelerate and enhance Amido’s application support capability. In addition, many of Amido’s clients have other technical requirements beyond cloud that Ensono can advise and support, such as mainframe modernization, private cloud, and IaaS support. Cloud native applications do not perform on an island. They are integrated with the rest of a client’s environment, which Ensono and Amido together can support.
Q: How will this acquisition benefit partners?
A: Partners will now be able to come to Ensono knowing we have the full portfolio of services from IT infrastructure to cloud native engineering. This strategic decision expands our advisory and consulting capabilities with software engineering skills—specifically the ability to design, build and run business applications.
With this acquisition, Ensono strengthens its multi-cloud capabilities across Azure, AWS, and Google. Combined we are a Microsoft Gold Azure Expert Partner, an AWS Migration Partner, Audited MSP and Advanced Consulting Partner, and a Google Cloud Partner. Ensono now holds 16 Gold competencies with Microsoft including Application Integrations, Data Analytics, Data Platform and Application Development and four Microsoft advanced specializations including Kubernetes on Azure.
