Job Summary
The DevOps / Automation Engineer – Operations focuses on automating and optimizing daytoday application and platform operations. This role is responsible for reducing manual effort, improving service reliability, and enabling consistent, lowrisk operational execution through automation. The engineer works closely with Application Support, Incident Management, and Platform teams to stabilize environments, accelerate recovery, and improve operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Automation
- Automate routine and repetitive operational tasks including deployments, restarts, health checks, configuration updates, and data movement.
- Build and maintain automation to support incident response, recovery, and operational runbooks.
- Reduce manual intervention in production environments while maintaining control and auditability.
Production Support Enablement
- Partner with Application Support teams to improve operational supportability of applications.
- Develop automation to speed incident triage, diagnostics, and resolution.
- Support Major Incident and Problem Management efforts by providing tooling, data, and repeatable recovery procedures.
Reliability & Stability Improvement
- Identify operational pain points and failure patterns and automate preventive or corrective actions.
- Improve system resilience by enabling safe restarts, automated failover steps, and standardized recovery procedures.
- Support service stability initiatives by reducing operational errors and variability.
Release & Change Support (OperationsLed)
- Support production releases by enabling repeatable, automated deployment and rollback processes.
- Work within changecontrolled environments to ensure automation complies with operational and governance requirements.
- Improve release reliability and reduce changerelated incidents through operational automation.
Monitoring & Observability Support
- Integrate monitoring, logging, and alerting into operational automation workflows.
- Create automated health checks and validation steps used during incidents and releases.
- Support proactive operations by enabling alertdriven automation and operational dashboards.
Documentation & Knowledge Enablement
- Document automation solutions, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure automation is usable and supportable by Application Support teams.
- Participate in knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent operational experience.
- 3–6 years of experience in operations engineering, DevOps, or automation roles supporting production systems.
- Strong experience automating operational tasks in production environments.
- Proficiency in scripting or automation languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell).
- Experience supporting application or infrastructure operations in a 24×7 environment.
- Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managed services or ITILaligned operational environments.
- Experience automating within changecontrolled and audited environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructureascode and configuration management tools from an operational perspective.
- Experience supporting cloud, hybrid, or legacy platforms in production.
- Exposure to monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms used in operations.
- ITIL Foundation or similar operational certifications.
