Ensono ‘massively’ simplifies Nisa Retail’s implementation and roll out through platform-related skills

With annual sales of £1.3 billion, Nisa Retail is the UK’s leading member-owned independent retailer organization with 1.5m sq. ft. of warehousing space servicing over 3,500 stores in UK and Ireland. For more than 40 years, Nisa has helped members remain competitive in the UK food and beverage markets. Nisa negotiates product pricing, provides a supply chain, and offers sales, marketing, and business development services for its members.

Nisa wished to deploy a new Stock Management system (Slimstock) to increase business efficiency by improving control over their inventories. Having analyzed their requirements for performance, availability, recoverability and security, Ensono recommended hosting their new solution on the Amazon Web Services Platform. Nisa engaged Ensono to design, build and commission their new AWS Service, from a Proof of Concept through to full operational deployment and ongoing management, monitoring and support.

The solution contains production and pre-production environments, with each incorporating a SQL Database running on Amazon EC2 servers. Ensono provide the managed services for this AWS environment, including connectivity for Nisa into AWS via Ensono’s Cloud Exchange.
 
Ensono’s managed service for Nisa’s Microsoft SQL Server environments on AWS includes the configuration and provision of the SQL environment and a fully managed Microsoft SQL service delivered by Microsoft Certified DBAs. Ensono’s Managed Service allows Nisa to focus on their business demands by underwriting the SLA targets for this critical application; addressing Performance, Availability, Security and Integrity of the SQL data.
