Brother to migrate mission-critical applications to AWS and Ensono Cloud
Print and technology specialist Brother International Europe, has selected hybrid IT services provider Ensono as its partner for its ambitious cloud-first strategy. The services overhaul will see a newly implemented hybrid approach to help Brother’s European business drive innovation, centred on the fast-paced and evolving needs of today’s consumer. The re-platform, which includes a revised application architecture, will provide Brother with an increase in agility and efficiency, and help push its customer-first strategy.
Brother will migrate mission-critical SAP business applications for production, procurement and disaster recovery (DR) to Ensono Cloud and the Sitecore web platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This will be the company’s first move to the cloud, enabling it to adapt its digital presence, procurement and online product portfolio in today’s dynamic and fast-paced consumer electronics market. The migration is already having an impact on the business, with staff reporting that SAP procurement services have gone from taking minutes to complete a transaction, to a matter of seconds.
Brother’s business has changed vastly in the 109 years since it was established in Nagoya, Japan. Starting life as a sewing machine repair company, it is now a leading provider of printing and business solutions.
Ian Metcalfe, Executive Director, Brother International Europe, stated: “Our partnership with Ensono moves us to a better place, where we can manage the speed of change in a world where consumers’ needs are evolving at lightning pace. Our goal is to remain at the cutting edge of technology, delivering the best to our customers.
“Infrastructure drives business agility, which forms the basis of innovation in any global organisation today. As infrastructure is today’s business transformation driver, we were looking for reliability, cost effectiveness, agility, flexibility, and above all a real partner – a partner that understands our requirements. Ensono ticks all the boxes and I am looking forward to a long and successful relationship.”
In addition, Brother will fulfil its goal of shortening the release lifecycle of new web functionality and procurement strategies from months down to weeks, with more rapid implementation of testing environments. Shortening the release lifecycle will see Brother better able to cater to the business needs and bring new features to market with speed.
Ian Metcalfe concluded: “Previously our IT infrastructure was there to ensure our business operated; that we talked to our customers, we delivered to the right place at the right time and we responded to our customer challenges. With the SAP and Sitecore on our newly implemented hybrid solution, infrastructure is now a valuable vehicle for the innovation required to keep ahead of the competition in an extremely competitive market.”
Paul Morris, Europe Managing Director, Ensono, added: “Brother has a long history of delivering innovation to consumers the world over, and is well known for the quality of both its products and customer service. It is an honour to be chosen to work with such a prestigious and enduring company on delivering their vision of an agile and thoroughly modern IT solution. We look forward to continuing to support them on this journey.”
